Easy Extra Money Idea of the Day:
I prefer dividend stocks over dividend ETF’s (to avoid the management fee/expense ratio) but, since I live in New York, the PowerShares New York AMT-Free Municipal Bond Portfolio ETF (PZT) has a place in my dividend portfolio.
The index which this fund tracks is mainly composed of US dollar-denominated, investment grade, tax-exempt debt publicly issued by New York and New York City (for example utilities, dormitories, bridges/tunnels, etc). This fact is important because debt issued by New York, for a New York resident, is generally free from federal, state, local, and federal alternative minimum taxes. PZT’s expense ratio is also reasonable which is another important factor to consider when investing in an ETF. As always, feel free to provide feedback/comments!
- PZT is based on the BofA Merrill Lynch New York Long-Term Core Plus Municipal Securities Index
- Fund inception date of 10/11/2007
- Dividend Payout Schedule: Monthly
